this sound is absolutely BIZARRE

This home experimenter makes a strange sounding device.  It kind of sounds like if you take a glass with a long stem, fill it with liquid and circle around it with your hand, making a very unusual sound.

Made in 2003 for an outdoor science park exhibit. Three fresnel lenses focus sunlight onto three standing-wave thermoacoustic engines. The light passes through the pyrex caps of the resonators and onto the hot side heat exchangers. See accompanying close up video showing one of the engines in more detail.

When hearing this thing you may think you were transported to a different planet.

It is very cool that home experimenters like this can upload their vids to YouTube.  This one is pretty rare actually there are not a lot like it.
