I guess CDs are still good for something..

The Slo Mo guys have been making cool science videos and using special equipment to view reactions at extremely slow speeds. This helps us see some of the underlying scientific and physics effects in regards to different substances, objects and reactions. In this one they use a compact disc (yes, those things we used to listen to music with) and shatter it:

Gav and Dan present the SLOWEST EVER episode of the slow mo guys by spinning a disc and filming it shatter at a whopping 170,000 frames per second.
