One commenter Simon has this theory:
My guess would be the vibration freaked the ones closest out so they dropped down some trail pheromone and started running for their lives.. in a circle.
Commenter Ash is actually skeptical of the video:
Nope, it’s a CGI fake. You can see the ants passing through each other, and if you watch very closely on the top-right-hand corner, you can see the “ants” literally vanishing out of existence.
What do you think? is the video real and if so, why are the ants doing this?
