Have you heard these trippy sounds?
You might not believe these weird and unusual detections. Often times we gaze at galaxies stars and quasars in the visual light spectrum but how often do we pay attention to the sounds in space? This video is an absolutely fascinating list of 5 of the weirdest sounds we’ve heard from outer space, and some quite recently. The S.E.T.I. program in particular started a few decades agoe and may be most famously known for a particular signal received in 1977 that still has the internet buzzing. What do you think is the most mysterious or indicative of life if any?
The comments on this video thread as expected are very spirited and inquisitive.
One commenter makes a point about the odds of being alone in the universe:
History has shown this way of thinking, people once thought the earth was flat, that the earth was the center of the universe, and now people think that we’re all thats out there. Not as a person with a tin foil hat on but mathematically speaking to look at all the galaxies and planets out there to assume we’re all thats out there is like thinking you’ve got a good chance at winning the megamillions lottery 100 times in a row
And another commenter had this quote to share:
“Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” ― Arthur C. Clarke
I completely do not agree with the Clarke quote. It is more terrifying to think that we are alone. Enjoy the video.
