The Optoelectronics Research Centre in the United Kingdom is studying metamaterials.  Meta what?  They are leading a study on nanostructured photonic materials.  Metamaterials represent the beginning of a new photonic revolution according to the narrator.  In nanotechnology molecules are configured in a way to make artificial structures.  So why is this important?  Because the current electricity usage of the world and the internet is unsustainable and these materials may be a solution.
