whoa…
This is incredible as astronomers have located an early forming solar system that can give us incredible insight. Not many space fans are even aware of this cool spotting. Here is an intro into what astronomers spotted:
A remarkable young stellar system has been found that could upend our theories of how quickly planets form. By observing a disk of material around a star 325 light-years away, astronomers have seen a close-up view of a star still forming with at least one planet close by for the first time.
The astronomers used the Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI) in Chile to study this star, called HD 100546.
An unusually high number of cool discoveries are coming from Chile in the last few years. It is one of the best places to view stars in the world!
