Here is a bit more information on when this happened and what China had to say about the moon’s atmosphere (or lack thereof)
“There is no atmosphere on the Moon, so unlike Earth, the ultraviolet light from celestial objects can be detected on the Moon,” Jing Wang from the National Astronomical Observatories in Beijing told New Scientist.
The telescope arrived on the Moon with the Chang’e 3 lander, which carried the Chinese Yutu rover, also known as the Jade Rabbit, in December 2013. The rover since hasn’t faired so well, after struggling to survive the days-long lunar nights, and it finally stopped transmitting data in March this year.
This is very cool and when it comes to science it is about progress and cooperation!
thanks to sciencealert.com for the great info
thanks to Igni/Wikimedia for the pic

It’s ours, just “made in China”
Haha right.
Kinda doubt that China has that type of technology to do something like that!
China still believes that oppression is the best way to control it’s people, for the most part, backwards in space flight.
The sleeping giant!
Actually, China “hopes” to have a robotic unmanned vehicle on the moon by 2025. Although I do agree with Remi.
America don’t want us to know…WHY all the secrets
People need to stop doubting China’s technology. The same people selling us ours is selling them theirs. China said two years ago they want to build a base on the moon…
and yet, there is is.
Uhh this wasn’t/isn’t a secret.
Here comes all the people saying we haven’t been on the moon, no matter how much proof is out there. They read it on the internet.
Can we see photos taken thanks to the telescope?
Who said it was a secret?
Is that photo been photoshoped?
Carson
Soooo you think there is a telescope on the moon…..just because you read it on the internet?
No, but I know there is proof that man has been there. Maybe you should read my comment again Ramon. Seems like you had trouble understanding what I said.
I can’t believe any of you morons actually believe this crap… doubting technology?? Dude there’s a robot on Mars .. there’s a satellite that orbited Pluto….
Maybe you should read the article…. Your comment had nothing to do with it. I tried to do you a solid and steer the convo in that direction! At no point did you dispute the telescope claim…..
I did read the article, and it was an interesting one. But my point is, everytime I see a post about moon missions, there’s always the crowd that comes out saying they know for a fact no human has ever step foot on the moon. So I say again, read my comment Ramon!!! Read it slowly this time. Maybe you’ll get the point. And don’t rush, take as long as you need for it to sink in.
