Astronomers Figured Out Where A Mysterious “Space Explosion” Happened

they finally nailed it for the first time ever…

It was 6 billion light years away in origin and remained a mystery until now.  A few months ago the internet was buzzing with discussions of this strange phenomenom.  Some speculated it was communication from aliens, others thought it was from a supernova and some even thought it was a mistake in the detection.  Here is a bit more background on an FRB:

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are explosive space events that have puzzled astronomers for decades – in milliseconds, these bursts generate as much energy as the Sun does in an entire day, but because we so rarely detect them (we’ve only spotted 17 to date) we pretty much have no idea where they come from.

Now an international team of astronomers has been able to pinpoint for the first time the origin of one of these bursts – and the results provide some important clues about what might be causing them.

The FRB they examined – the not-so-playfully named FRB150418 – was detected on 18 April 2015 by the Parkes radio telescope in Australia.

They will likely examine it further now that they know where it came from.

Let’s find out more about this mysterious burst and others that happened in the video on page 2

Interesting ..and gives us all future worry as to the fallout from future meteors coming this way. Perfect example. And our own moon kept good score on the impacts of past.
