Astronomers Have Found “Super Earth” To Contain An Atmosphere

they JUST detected this…

What does this mean for the search for extraterrestrials?  There is an exoplanet that has drawn a lot of attention from astronomers recently.  it is described as a “super Earth” and it orbits a star named Cancri 55 which is about 40 light years from us.  This is a brief excerpt about the discovery regarding this planet:

For the first time, astronomers have detected the atmospheric makeup of a ‘super-Earth‘ – the most common type of planet in our galaxy. Found in other solar systems, these exoplanets have a mass larger than Earth’s, but are significantly smaller than the gas giants found in our Solar System, such as Jupiter and Saturn.

One of the reasons this is significant is that an atmosphere is at least in common theories associated with a higher likelihood of having life.

Let’s find out more and watch a video about other exoplanets on page 2

If WE can’t live on it, it’s not a super earth, it’s just a big rocky planet at the moment.
Call it Earth when we can live there.

I’m more informed than you may believe my angry friend.
You’re a very angry little person and a big part of the ills in our world.

    I stand by my statement.

I wish you luck and good fortune with your anger issues, though I expect you to fail miserably.

Not necessarily. For one, candidate planets for intelligence life can vastly improve an organization like SETIs efficiency. Also they give us more information on how and why planets form…in which regions and what types of elements and chemical processes are happening can help us understand what types of events occur that could produce life and how rare or common they are.
