Could This Actually Be The First Pic of An Alien Planet?

No way?

This planet is only 25 light years away and it is making quite a buzz.  And it actually orbits a star named Femalhut.  Maybe that could be like the movie Beetlejuice part 2 (the 80s classic that was named after the red giant betelguise.

The planet they discovered here was the first of its kind searching with visible light.  Many astronomers find this data noteworthy but some people are skeptical.  Some of the commenters on the thread had this to say:

“First Image of an Alien Planet” more like “First Pixel of an Alien Planet” XD

It is true these pics are minimal but this is fascinating none the less.  You can decide.

Decide for yourself in this video showing pics of this new planet on page 2

Wow fuckin shocking, so fucking shocking, the most shocking science of 2016, not like we can go outside at dark and see a planet

Not what they’re saying at all josh. It’s simply the fact that we actually took a visible picture of a planet outside of the solar system (which is an immensely difficult thing to do because of the sheer distance of most other solar systems). Read the article before flipping out friend. Not everything referred to as alien involves little green men.

You doubt that they took the first visible light image of a planet in another solar system? Or are you being an idiot and assuming little green men without reading the article? Don’t be lazy, read before you assume.

THEY DONT MEAN LITTLE GREEN MEN!! God, read an article before opening your reply box. Until now all the planets and solar systems we’ve found were discovered using indirect methods like measuring dips in light intensity as the planet passes around it, the wobble of a star as it’s planets pull it, etc. this is the first direct image we’ve gotten that clearly shows a planet in a different solar system. Read a damn article people!

Kyle Judge I read the article. I wasn’t referring to “little green men”. I believe if facts, data and hard evidence. There simply isn’t enough supportable science here for me to agree that this is indeed a picture of a visible light from another solar system. I’m not going to jump to conclusions based on emotion and excitement. I remain doubtful. One thing I’m sure of is you could take a bit of your own advice when it comes to assuming. Assuming that I was lazy, uninformed and did not read the article. Have several seats Sir.

Fail…misleading headline, bad grammar, doesnt discuss the science and instead references the comments section for illwrought diatribes with even worse grammar.
