Exoplanet Rotation Was Measured For The First Time EVER

it is 5x the size of Jupiter..

You can add this to the list of cool exoplanets findings.  The last few years have been incredible in terms of the data we have gotten back on exoplanets.  The most famous of course is kepler 452-b which is known to be the most “Earth-like” out of all the ones astronomers have found.  Now, they have actually measured the rotation of a particular one which has never been done before:

For the first time, the rotation of an exoplanet – a planet outside the Solar System – has been observed directly. Considering it’s only been 12 years since the first direct observation of planets outside the Solar System, the achievement is remarkable.

Remember it has only been just over a decade since planets much less exoplanets have been seen.  And they have been using advanced tools like starshades to improve the search for them.

Let’s check out the search for more exoplanets in the video on page 2
