This is fascinating, who knew it might have grown even taller:

Researchers stated that woodpecker damage at the top may have prevented the tree from growing taller. According to Michael Taylor, “It’s possible it could’ve topped out at 380 feet [or 116 metres]”.

One of the commenters on the thread remarks on how recently this was discovered:

How is the world’s tallest tree unknown until 2006 when it’s only 4 miles away from somewhere you can (presumably) reach by car? Whatever, it’s fascinating regardless. Maybe there’s an even bigger one somewhere out there. Crazy to think we’re STILL discovering these things.

He makes a good point it is a bit surprising it took this long.  And thanks to the ambitious climber for making and posting this video!
