Some of the comments were pretty insightful and added value in terms of the information they shared.
Commenter Akash P did some research and had this to say:
In doing a little research, Westinghouse and RCA provided the TV cameras, and Maurer provided the 16mm hand held camera for the Apollo Program. Since this was NASA, these were probably single customer contract cameras and not commercially available. For some reason, I thought one of the astronauts brought his own personal 8mm, but I can’t track that down. Memory too fuzzy. It was only 45 years ago. ;o)
Commenter TW had an astute observation about this video as well:
Regardless of the video there are a lot of ways to prove the curvature of earth, from watching a ship in the distance fading away and getting lower and lower until it is hidden behind the horizon, to watching the curvature from the plane while flying.
By the way if you had a camera or a normal angle-to viewer ratio you would still see curvature. However go pro cameras are well known for their fish-eye angles.
We hope you liked the video and are inspired to keep researching the possibilities of space!
