They didn’t say 100% though..

There may be no bigger story in space “or at least one that generated more chatter” than the Ceres mystery spots.  Initially here is what NASA thought they were:

Ice was the most obvious guess for the highly reflective patches, because Ceres is believed to harbour a huge ocean beneath its surface.

However, they have changed their theory on these weird spots.  That being said they still do not absolutely know what they are, it is still theory.
