This unique galaxy has a few different properties that would be considered unique:
1. Within the galaxy’s bright ring new stars are forming at a high rate and many young, bright stars are present within it – thanks to this, this feature is called a starburst ring.
Here is another unique feature as described by wikipedia:
2. Messier 94 (also known as NGC 4736) is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1781,[6] and catalogued by Charles Messier two days later. Although some references describe M94 as a barred spiral galaxy, the “bar” structure appears to be more oval-shaped.[7] The galaxy is also notable in that it has two ring structures.[5]
We are looking forward to more pics of this unusual formation from The Hubble!
