Take A Journey To The Largest Galaxy In The Universe

this is MIND BOGGLING..

It is about 1 billion light years away and enormous.  When astronomers say the largest they are referring to the visible universe that we can see and decades of telescope searching.  Out of all that time and effort IC 1101 is the biggest they have found.  Just the Milky Way alone has about 100 billion stars.  That is 100,000 million stars if you want to break it down in different terms 😉  Here is a bit more description on this galaxy that eclipses ours in physical size:

Just how large is it?  At its largest point, this galaxy extends about 2 million light-years from its core, and it has a mass of about 100-trillion stars. To give you some idea of what this means, the Milky Way is just 100,000 light-years in diameter. If our galaxy were to be replaced with this super-giant, it would swallow up both Magellanic clouds, the Andromeda galaxy, the Triangulum galaxy, and almost all the space in between. That is simply staggering.
