they were behind all the stardust until now…

There were 100s of them that astronomers finally found.  Apparently they found a treasure trove of galaxies that they never knew were there.  Here is a bit more on this incredible finding:

Astronomers have used radio waves to peer through the galactic mass and stardust of the Milky Way, and in so doing, have discovered hundreds of nearby galaxies previously hidden from view.

You may or may not remember from 2015 they discovered another unusual feature in the Milky Way.  Apparently there were a lot of cepheid stars near the center that NASA had no idea were there.
