Unusual Pulsating Star Seen By The Hubble Space Telescope

It has been quite a decade for NASA and astronomy in general.  Many of the most exciting finds have been from The Hubble Space Telescope.  In these pics they followed something very unusual:

Variable star RS Puppis was observed by the Space Telescope over a period of 5 weeks. These types of stars are unstable because they have consumed most of the hydrogen fuel. The pulsations seen are not moving gas, but light echoes.
