Just my 2 cents for suggestions from experience: ping pong balls are very cool to burn, but have been done before, and acrylic sheet cannot be touched by 3000v (tried it, got shocked, glad to be alive). Any kind of wood covered with baking soda solution gives a truly awesome effect (see backyard scientists channel for more on this, he does it, but I think some close up shots would look fantastic). You might even try popcorn kernels with HV. Cheers.
