You Won’t Believe The Optical Illusions Your Eyes Can See Sometimes

This cool video has inspired some interesting questions on the thread:

The Backyard Scientist asks:

Has anybody else noticed you can ‘break’ persistence of vision? For example, if you look at a really fast moving object, like a spinning tire, or ceiling fan it looks blurred, but if you dart your eyes away from it, or towards it you can see a single ‘frame’ of the action?

Nicolai replies with a possible answer:

That is called Chronostasis I believe. This is also why the first second, when moving your eyes to look at a clock, can seem to take slightly longer. Really interesting effect for sure!
