Ancient Babylonians Mapped The Path Of Jupiter 1,000s of Years Ago

this changes astronomical history…

Some are even saying this is the precursor to modern calculus.  Apparently ancient astronomers in the Messopotamia region had advanced knowledge of astronomy…like a lot more advanced than previously thought.  And apparently it came from some careful analysis.

This picture is of a cuneiform tablet from the region although unrelated to astronomy.  They ere known for having an advanced communications system.

Here is a brief introduction to this archaeological finding:

Analysis of an ancient codebreaking tablet has revealed that Babylonian astronomers had calculated the movements of Jupiter using an early form of geometric calculus some 1,400 years before we thought the technique was invented by the Europeans.
