Ceres Update – Part 4

Here is a bit more background on the mystery of the spots:

Ever since Dawn entered orbit around Ceres earlier this year, scientists have been left baffled by the appearance of bright spots seemingly reflecting sunlight in craters on the surface. Theories for their origin have ranged from ice – exposed by impacts on the surface – to salt flats or even cryovolcanoes.

Now scientists might be closer to solving the mystery by spotting a “haze” above one group of spots, suggesting their origin is ice. The latest findings were revealed by Christopher Russell, the principal investigator on the mission, at an exploration meeting at NASA’s Ames Research Center yesterday.

Just a note this is not difinitive in any way and they are expecting more information in August as they can get closer pictures from the surface to analyze.

We will cover the story and hope you like the video below in the meantime.

Very cool video. I personally can not wait to see what those bright spots turn out to be. Some rare mineral would be amazing. Possibly something that would motivate people to get us into space!!

I’m thinking its a metal vain that’s been exposed by meteor impacts. Or a alien base that is really old or a base built by a intelligent dinosaur race that evolved between us and dinosaurs. Or is a shiny spot. Lol

You would think a probe built fairly recently, would have better cameras. The NSA can see a zit on a monkeys $#%&!@* from orbit. Why does the space program use go pros
