Could Space Particles Actually Change Your DNA?

this guy just got back from space…

Scott Kelly spent a year in space and you won’t believe what may have happened.  And you may say he is either crazy or crazy smart?  Apparently he spent one year of his life in space and had some let’s say interesting changes.  There is one very noticeable one btw.  He has a twin brother and when he came back Scott was two inches taller!  Here is more on what happened:

After living for nearly a year aboard the International Space Station, NASA astronaut Scott Kelly is two inches taller than his identical twin brother Mark.

Kelly, who has spent more time in space than any other American astronaut, reports that overall he “feels pretty good” and now begins what may be a yearlong project to monitor his health. One unique advantage he provides to NASA’s doctors is his identical twin brother, Mark, a former NASA astronaut who spent last year with his feet planted on terra firma.

Aside from his recent experience here is a challenge regarding DNA in future space missions:

Cosmic Rays, which originate on the Sun can be harmful to astronauts. Just outside the protective layer of Earth’s atmosphere and magnetosphere, is a universe full of radiation. What happens to our bodies when we leave the surface of Earth to travel in space or visit the International Space Station?

Let’s see what cosmic rays can do to your DNA in the video on page 2
