Often times space formations that are billions of light years away are being studied by scientists. However, some of the most mysterious things are right here on Earth. There is a whole ecosystem beneath the ice sheets of Antarctica and this video examines the very cool scenery (no pun intended) 😉 Did you know about this? Take a journey in this video through this very unusual world.
Here is a very cool pic from above the surface
Here is a bit more background on this awesome and mysterious formation on earth that we are all familiar with:
The icing of Antarctica began with ice-rafting from middle Eocene times about 45.5 million years ago and escalated inland widely during the Eocene – Oligocene extinction event about 34 million years ago. CO2 levels were then about 760 ppm and had been decreasing from earlier levels in the thousands of ppm. Carbon dioxide decrease, with a tipping point of 600 ppm, was the primary agent forcing Antarctic glaciation.
The glaciation was favored by an interval when the Earth’s orbit favored cool summers but Oxygen isotope ratio cycle marker changes were too large to be explained by Antarctic ice-sheet growth alone indicating an ice age of some size. The opening of the Drake Passage may have played a role as well though models of the changes suggest declining CO2 levels to have been more important.
We hope you enjoy the video and have a new appreciation for this incredible formation.
definitely not a creature that mimics the way you look and has a weakness to fire
If you believe the conspiracy theorists, that’s where$#%&!@*s$#%&!@*base is, or secret alien base where they watch all of Earth. lol
20 k below cero
i mean you could build a base there i guess itd be a good place for one but youd need the worlds best heater
Ain’t no mermaids. That’s for sure.
