Madgets (not magnets) are interactive widgets for interactive table tops.  They let both users and systems freely position and configure complex controls on a table.  They also open up new actuation dimensions such as height, power transferg and vibrational feedback.  Lightweight translucent widgets made from acrylic that can contain several movable parts.  Each madget contains several permanent magnets used for actuation.  An array of electromagents underneath the table surface lets us move the madgets.
