In the video this is what the narrator uses:

• Fisher & Parkel washing machine
• phillips head screw driver
• wire cutters
• Keep the tub, shaft, rotor and barrings everything else can go
• pelton wheel (can get on ebay for around $100)
• scissors and thin sheet of rubber and thin sheet of plastic
• power drill

Inspect the rotor for the integrity of the magnets.  The small cracks in the plastic don’t matter.  The power runs into a battery bank through a fuse to an inverter where it is converted from low voltage dc.
