Guy Makes a “Rodini Rotor Ripper” at Home

NOTE:  DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME OR WITHOUT THE SUPERVISION OF A PROFESSIONAL

Here is a bit more of a description of this electrical device:

The speed is remarkable considering it is about 800 milliamps at 12 volts, or 9.6 watts. I’m using a Darlington transistor MJ10005 in place of an IRF350 mosfet used in my Ace-O-Clubs video. It can handle 400 volts reverse, but the main thing is the 40 nanosecond cutoff time for an inductive load. This collapses the magnetic field in the coil very fast, which provides extra torque and higher speeds

What do you think is he onto something?  Would further iterations of this thing actually lead to use in different types of applications?

Feel free to comment with your ideas on this thing.  The video thread seems to have some pretty inquisitive ones!

I think one could reduce the rather loud rotor noise by suspending it inside some high quality bearings. Noise=wasted energy.
