NASA Discusses the Real Possibility of Warp Speed

What do you think is this a real possibility right now or very close into the future?

Commenter “Ping Timeout” is a bit more skeptical of these possibilities:

The biggest flaw to any warp drive design is that they use physics that don’t exist yet, or break fundamental laws that we’re already aware of. Speculation is fine but this MUST be considered first and foremost; NASA has done no more work on this project than any of you are doing right now, nobody has the technology to make an Alcubierre drive nor can we even begin to understand what steps we’d have to take in order to attain even a basic understanding of developing said technology. I’m an optimist, I’d hope that someday someone does find that physics loophole, but with current knowledge all of this is just fantasy.

I can get what this commenter is saying although “physics that don’t exist yet” in my mind may not be completely logical.  The known world of physics does not mean there are other properties we have not discovered yet, and because we have not found them, does not mean they don’t exist.

If nothing else they bring up some very thought provoking ideas in this piece and am always appreciative of NASA and their studies.

We hope you enjoy the video and are inspired by the discussion!
