They Spotted Two ‘Exoplanets’ Orbiting a Mysterious Star

They have never seen anything like this before…

There have been a lot of interesting exoplanets in the news lately, the most famous being kepler 452-b.  Even in the last decade they have discovered over 1,000 of them which is awesome.  Some are stranger than others.  And now astronomers have discovered two more:

A team of U.S. astronomers has made a surprising discovery using data collected by NASA’s Kepler/K2 mission: a star called WASP-47, a previously known hot Jupiter exoplanet host, also hosts two additional exoplanets – a Neptune-sized outer planet and a super-Earth inner companion.

What is going on out there?  And what does this say about potential gravitational properties out there between the star and the planets themselves?  This is too cool and I can’t wait to find out more.

Let’s find out more about the properties of these exoplanets on page 2
