This Was Found Off The Coast Of Greece And They Don’t Know What It Is

Archaeology is a fascinating field and was popularized by the Indiana Jones series of movies. Although there have been many artifacts that had once remained mysterious, many of them have had inscriptions that have been translated and the like. This unusual object however that was found off the coast of Greece remains a mystery. It almost looks like a nautical device but no one knows for sure.

Here is a bit more background on what it looked like when they found it:

It was found in quite a few pieces, but scientists say they come together to form an extremely intricate machine. Any other type of machine like it wouldn’t of been built for another 1000 years at least.

The machine so intricate that it baffles scientists how it was ever built.

Beyond that…even its uses, which, going by the way the machine looks to work and the instructions, are way way ahead of its time.

The country of Greece is more famous for its monuments and statues such as the one here at Delphi

This device however is very different from the typical findings in this region.

What do you think was the purpose of this artifact?  Was there astrological significance or something else?

Actually they do know what it’s for. It’s a navigation computer that calculated the stars position and the ships position. They say it the first analog computer. It probably was made in Thebes. The ancient cultures were more advanced than we think. Remember when Christianity came in they sacked and burned the library of Alexandria and a lot of Greek artifacts to ensure the Christian religion wouldn’t be questioned in its teachings.

The Christians only burned a temple to a pagan god, the later invaders of Rome burned the books and papers to fuel the bath houses.

Kevin Cox it is hand operated by turning certain gears with a person’s fingers until you get what you are searching for, I did some research and that is speculation now

It’s obvious what it is. To say “we don’t know” is an obfuscation. To say “We don’t know all the details about it and it messes with our beliefs about the ancient people” is honest.

I keep waiting for them to unearth steel framing and wiring from 10-20k years ago. They have already shown a little island in the Mediterranean that likely is the site for “Atlantis” had multi story buildings, running water and septic systems. Close to 5k years old

It was posted because it’s a mystery to persons who don’t know, it is the Antilythera mechanism for finding direction on the sea in Ancient times.

This was said to be an astrological clock discovered some 8 yrs ago or so and has anyone heard of the Bagdad battery over 2000 yrs old and we say Alessandro Volta invented the battery the Egyptians have a carving in a pyramid; of a box with vines coming out going to a flower looking shape with a snake coming out and a bubble around it to me that looks like a lightbulb …. And we say Tomas Edison created the light bulb. Well how about they just reinvented these things how much technology was destroyed over the years how many books of knowledge was burned! Chinese, and the library of Alexander! Religion is what really makes people stupid and keeps them from expanding their mind in knowledge! It’s what they want control over the mass population!

Yes, obvious is the exact word to use for anyone who’s seen a watch. This was found early last century, Watches and clockwork were common enough at the time. Also, it was found among artifacts that give an obvious date to archaeologists even contemporary ones. What wasn’t common then( or now) is the ability for people to put aside their preconceived notions of how people are supposed to be or think and allow evidence to speak for itself.

I don’t know what it is, but I’ve seen it before. According to an episode of The Jacque Cousteau Odyssey, it is some kind of geared instrument and is evidence that the Greeks held the key to the Industrial Revolution and modern computer technology.

It’s what they’re calling the world’s first computer. It was not just used for navigation but also to give astrological readings. We’ve found several such inventions that all predate the stone age.
