To This Day No One Can Get Their Mind Around It..

STILL..

The science of endless time is debated yet this guy thinks he figured it out.  In a fascinating video, they examine this notion.  There are opinions from all perspectives on this one.

The one philosopher near the start of the video states infinity is an illusion just like the speed of light once was. Does this even make sense?

There are people on both sides of the debate here, and this is a strong opposing view that has lasted for centuries.  Well here is a fascinating video covering this controversial topic:

“The infinite! No other question has ever moved so profoundly the spirit of man,” said David Hilbert, one of the most influential mathematicians of the 19th century. A subject extensively studied by philosophers, mathematicians, and more recently, physicists and cosmologists, infinity still stands as an enigma of the intellectual world. Thinkers clash over questions such as: Does infinity exist? Can it be found in the physical world? What types of infinity are there? Through an interdisciplinary discussion with some of the world’s leading thinkers, this program will delve into the many facets of infinity and address some of the deepest questions and controversies that mention of the infinite continues to inspire.

Let’s find out what these philosophers and scientists have to say about infinity in the video on page 2

You believe, but where is your proof? You’re the kind of person that pisses me off lol. For everything we don’t know God must’ve done it. #godofthegaps

Well, if you ask proof from a bible you will not find it… God will never give proof… That 100% defeats the purpose if faith… Pretty stupid of anyone not able to grasp that… But if you want to look for proof that the bible is largely comprised of fact, look at history books and the vast archaeological evidence that constantly is backing up too many to name things in the bible… Things people always said were made up… The bible not only had the names, but the exact dates and locations of tons of events that had been discounted as legend by nonbelievers… When you treat science as a religion (almost everybody does) it takes more faith to believe in it than it does the bible… Sorry, that’s just a fact… Sincerely, a former scientist and historian

well Duane I can understand why your a FORMER scientist and historian real scientist use the word fact with hard evidence faith is not hard evidence Mr. Wizard

The limits to infinity is how it trickles in to the finite and trickles out again so we are aware of it but can’t measure it

Former in a spence that I don’t work in science anymore… I work in finances… I make a lot more money… And the facts that are stated are in the vast events that were written off as legend but later proven to be fact… Exact names dates and locations of events… And Brian, god won’t reveal himself because of reasons we can’t understand… You can’t ever grasp the wisdom of god… But you can get an idea… My interpretation of it is something like someone who shows their faith and loyalty to something they haven’t seen or heard, is willing to serve god out of their will and spiritual compass… It’s hard to explain, but wasy to understand in you study the bible

Do as I say, not as I do.
In order to get closer to “God” one must first walk blindly in faith..

    BIGGEST DAMN LIE EVER TOLD.
STOLEN STORIES OF TRANSPOSED HISTORIES, STOLEN ARTIFACTS, LANGUAGES AND COLTURES MEANT TO DIVIDE AND ENSLAVE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD… TELL THE TRUTH.

Tyler Curtis please offer proof of love? Please provide scientific proof of the Big Bang and evolution. Before you start quoting anyone please remember: scientific fact means your able to do it 2 or more times and get the exact results. I’ve never seen any scientist recreate earth , life or even dirt using only material they created. Just because you don’t agree with Jim okoniewski doesn’t mean he is wrong. He has faith in his belief and you have based your belief on whatever you believe.

Good thing god doesn’t say do as I say not as I do right? Good thing he says to do as he does… If you actually read and studied the bible, you would know what you’re taking about and would realize how stupid you sound… And as far as stolen stories of transposed history, again, if you read the bible and knew what was in it, as well as knowing history, you would know what an insane crock that is too… It’s so easy to talk crap when you dont know crap, but it takes a lot more of a person to learn both sides before fueling an opinion… The truth is plain to see and very easy to grasp… But you’ve got to be more open minded than that

And I hope you’re not referring to Christians by being this big bad enslaver of the people… Because I could destroy that logic in a heartbeat with some statistics and comparisons to other religions… Namely muslims (which Christian badgers tend to love which is absolutley retarded because of how much they stand for all of the things they accuse Christians of)

Holy crap… Cliff is bar$#%&!@*racist… Check out his profile… He loves to preach black unity, which implies equality, but actually promotes division… Keep us all divided, right? Arrest white babies? Child molesters? You’re fucked in the head man

God is energy. No, I don’t believe in God as this overseeing whatever it is that people want to call it. Instead to me, God is all the energy of everything. When you pray, God doesn’t answer your prayer, but the positive energy you emit combines with everyone’s else’s positive energy to put balance back into something that negative energy is trying to overtake. It’s my theory, it has no basis, nor anything to back it up. It is however my faith. I don’t believe that when I die that I go to a city of gold, I believe that my energy gets diluted with all the other energy that it came from.
Consciousness is the non mechanical part of the equation that has no rhyme or reason, yet collectively drives the physical world.
It’s hard to explain in a few paragraphs. I have no Intensions of changing anyone’s belief, I’m just explaining my view of the subject.

Time is a human concept, just as math is. Is time infinite? No, “time” will cease to exist when humans cease to exist.

  12. Duane Ball said:

I can absolutely respect that tom! It sounds like an interesting perspective and thank you for sharing… Personally, I like to hear other peoples beliefs… And also thanks for not being a$#%&!@*and saying it in a neutral way without insulting anybody!

To do as he does……did this start “the crusades”. Forcing people to believe in “your” god has started most wars. If everyone was left alone about religion then we could possibly start getting to the biggest problem that will never be solved…….world peace.

  14. Darryle Cockerham said:

If there are bubble universes out there, ours will eventually expand enough merge with another expanding one and so on, just like our galaxy will someday merge with Andromeda. In that case, time is infinite. Change does not cause something to be finite.

Brian Duering I e not proven my existence to you (save for now) yet here I am…….and I have been for quite some time! Hell, and I’m not even God! (Nite I’ve not stated which side of the fence I’m on, I just poked a hole on your statement…..and YES I was aware if you!

  16. Ramon Lozano said:

Time is a mere unit of measure…..is an “hour” real? Will it cease to exist? YES! The very second it ceases to be used as a unit of measure!

  17. Price Harville said:

Duane Ball if every historical name, place, event, etc listed in the bible is correct (which it’s not even close)….. That says nothing for the validity of any “magical” or otherwise ludicrous claims. It would have been hard for the authors to not have gotten at least part of their stories correct, they were living during this time period. The fact that historical names actually appear in texts written in antiquity means what, exactly?

Observational fact biochemical faith or belief in religion suppresses the analytical Network in the brain analytical nature suppresses the religious orientated or the emotive Network in the brain that’s one reason for that the arguments and the conflict did someone on the analytical Network literally cannot think as someone who preferences the emotive Network they are on completely different wavelengths

  19. Curtis Ackerman said:

The best of Our Kind the brightest minds are able to reconcile both some 90% of Nobel laureates Professor some kind of Faith or belief so someone who’s purely of religious mind probably won’t be very satisfied with the way they profess or what they profess it to be

That’s not clear at a Quantum level or patterns are going to persist there always be a connection energy can be changed it cannot be destroyed some pattern or a record will remain of us

It depends that can be extremely relevant or not at all Ipsy observational Factor the quantum nature of observation altering the observed I just true for time as anything else

  22. Jimmy Wright said:

Time is just a human made unit of measure. We just created it to try and understand the universe better. In reality that unit of measure is just a planet spinning in circles as it rotates around a star. I believe the universe has no beginning and no end. The question is what is the universe? Is it a bunch of galaxies and if you say yes then that wolud mean if you had a section of space with no planets stars or galaxies would that mean that section has no universe? I think the universe is a place that has no beginning and no end and all these things live out their life cycles within it.

  23. Ty Rankin said:

But thats the idea of creating it… Its existence is only relavant to our existence. Its our own mortal reminder. In theory it would exist after us, but as far as we know, we are the only ones who perceive time in this exact manner. One thing is for sure, our version of time is definitely not a universal constant, by any means. We just use time to create order.

  24. Timothy Hadley said:

Every species of Mammalia uses time to create order humans are no unique in that regard, so it’s fairly likely that “some” species in the universe will be able to relate to us in that respect

  25. Timothy Hadley said:

The ignorance in this thread is crazy. Comparing science to religion is just not the correct way to go about it. Science deals in probabilistic predictions just because there are no absolutes does not diminish the insights it gives us. Yes we can recreate the experiments that proved the big bang. Yea we can recreate the thousands of experiments that prove evolution. The facts are there for you to look at in various different scientific journals.

Willful ignorance is much easier though so I understand

  26. Darryle Cockerham said:

I didn’t say that this universe isn’t expanding or inflating. I said I don’t accept the hypotheses relating to the causes, such as quantum tunneling, quantum fluctuations, etc.

  27. Darryle Cockerham said:

I didn’t say this universe isn’t expanding. I said I don’t buy into the current hypotheses, like what caused it and why it seems to be accelerating. Back to Curtis’s comment, minus current theories, there would be no reason for repulsiveness. When two pebbles are dropped near each other in a pool of water, the resulting ripples don’t repel each other. They interact and merge.

Duane Ball, without knowing anything about me you felt free to dismiss my knowledge, and even displayed contempt that I may know that your more full of$#%&!@*than a Barnyard of pigs. “God says do as he does”..
