Targeted drug delivery using nanotechnology can open a new era in cancer therapy.  A tumor marker is a substance found in the body tissues that can be elevated only in cancer cells.  Oncomarkers are a signature of a cancer cell and modern nanoparticles developed to conjugate to various molecular markers.  Doxorubicon DOX is an effective anti-cancer drug but it can also cause the death of healthy cells too.  So if there was a way to deliver medicines such as DOX to only cancer cells using the oncomarker signatures that would be groundbreaking.

The DOD nanoparticles would penetrate the inside of the cancer cell due to identifying markers on the surface of only those bad cells!  If this or osmething similar could work, imagine the benefits.  There would be a lot healthier cells in your body so you’d be stronger in general, and potentially more medicine would be delivered to the bad guys simultaneously.

I really hope they are on to something here!!
