Can Anything Go Faster Than the Speed of Light?

any opinion?

This is a really interesting scientific debate that examines the speed of light and possibilities of traveling faster.  There have been some far out explanations about black holes that can warp light and the like but perhaps is that faster or slower than light itself?  And recently there have been discussions about “tachyons” or some kind of mysterious cosmic particle that indeed does travel faster.

The ever adventurous scientific video maker “Vsauce” asks this very question.  His explanations and examples may surprise you.

Do you think he is too far out there or does he pose some strong examples to ponder over?

Let’s find out what the narrator thinks could go faster in the video on page 2

Light and electricity have no physical properties. The universe has no speed limit, the speed of light can actually be defined as a rate of induction. What we perceive as “light”, has no speed- this is defined as instantaneous action at a distance. Gravity, like time, are not “things”, but rather an experience. Gravity is simply {a form of} magnetism. Time is a method of measurement between the movement of relative objects in space.

Modern science has substituted mathematics/theorization for experimentation, which has no relation to reality. Sad, but true. This is why Cern is the largest/most powerful waste of time and money on the face of the planet.

Darkness has no properties, it’s the absence of light. To say that darkness is a “thing” and/or has a speed, is a nonexistent duality; i.e.- water vs. ice. The nature of of water does not change; although it’s state is altered, its nature (water) remains the same.

Nothing is faster because it was already there. As to say if light changes where it is going the where ever or whatever it changed had to be faster because it was already there.

Stupidity moves faster than the speed if light. Leave one stupid person go as fast as you can and you will still find a stupid person when you stop.

Very wise words, however energy and mass are interchangeable it can also be both at the same time… When slowing down light you are taking energy out of the waveform in order to skim out energy into wasted format or you are actually using a prismatic effect to slow the energy flow down so speed is just relative to oberservation. (special relativity) thus if you are travelling the speed of light and add more velocity to that vector that speed can be larger and time as well as dimensions dilate to make room for that huge amount of energy

Well there is in theory distance traveled zero between a and b and time zero however what you are doing is travelling temporarily in a new dimension

Really like this debate thank you to all those who have participated this is a truth of many civilisations that light speed is exceeded in the universe it is just difficult to observe

Because to my knowledge the big bang hasn’t actually been disproven, although there is a hypothesis in quantum physics that says it didn’t happen. Also, I don’t think it happened as a singularity and stretched the fabric of space, but since it is still a working theory I figured I should include the maximum relative speed of light for that universe in my post.

prove it… If it travels at the speed of light, how are galaxies not spinning out of control when stars die? The whole thing is held in that force and that force is there before light gets there.

Yes but it depends on your interpretation of light. I think there are many things out there that we will never understand. The universe is to complexed, not because of a greater power but because the the universe as been around a lot longer that us. The possibilities are endless. We will never know. After all, we live on the the earth, the earth is in our solar system. Our solar system is in the milky way and the milky way is in the universe. The universe is in what? And if the big bang happened, what did it happen in? We will never know because we could never comprehend!!!

Ira Townsend, you’re assuming that the laws of physics as we know them are 100% correct, which we already know for a fact isn’t true.

  12. Justin Durand said:

Quantum entanglement happens instantly regardless of the distance, so we already know that, somehow, information can travel faster than the speed of light.

  13. Dave Carvell said:

You can keep accelerating, but you never reach the speed of light in relation to any other frame of reference. Space and time deform to prevent that.

Light travels at a defined speed galaxy’s don’t and yes they say that their may be one a tachyon they also say there is a Galaxy out there it is moving faster than the speed of light
