Have you ever wondered why Earth supports life and Mars does not?  You may or may not know about this but Earth’s magnetic field plays a super important role in this.  We often focus on things like the atmosphere and the cellular level communicating with each other through DNA.  However we are protected by an extremely sophisticated system that few people talk about:

Earth’s magnetic field, which protects the planet from harmful blasts of solar radiation, is much older than scientists had previously thought, researchers say. In fact, this invisible, protective shield likely existed shortly after the planet formed — a finding that could shed light on why Earth is habitable and Mars is not.

Without Earth’s magnetic field, solar winds — streams of electrically charged particles that flow from the sun — would strip away the planet’s atmosphere and oceans. As such, Earth’s magnetic field helped to make life on the planet possible, researchers have said.

Here is some more in depth information on how this incredible “field” actually functions:

The magnetic field is generated by swirling liquid metal in Earth’s outer core, and this “geodynamo” requires the release of heat from the planet to drive its churning. Nowadays, this heat flow is aided by plate tectonics— the movement of the plates of rock that make up the planet’s exterior — which efficiently lets heat transfer from Earth’s interior to its surface.

Now, scientists have found that Earth’s magnetic field could be up to 4.2 billion years old — about 750 million years older than had been previously thought.

The researchers investigated magnetically sensitive minerals such as magnetite, a naturally occurring cousin of rust. As molten rock cools, magnetite within it becomes literally set in stone, pointing to the location of Earth’s magnetic poles at the moment it froze. As a result, the oldest samples of magnetite can reveal the direction and intensity of Earth’s magnetic field at the earliest parts of Earth’s history, the researchers said.

    There is some funky things on Mars. I bet there are things that aren’t shown or distorted in rover images. There is a concerted effort to hide things from the public. Why? I don’t have a answer.

    Ron Moffett Jr. I used to study all of that stuff too. I eventually went down the rabbit hole, deep, and learned that there are evil forces controlling this world which in turn lead me to God.
    The story of the bible put together all the information id learned and gave me a new perspective. A new hope. You should devote some of your energies to Christianity and Christian science

    Why earth has intelligent life can be traced back to the event that created the moon. The collision of a Mars size proto planet spun off crust that coalesced into our moon. It also added a significant amount of iron and enough m$#%&!@* to create the gravitational forces needed to give us the dual layer (outer liquid/inner solid) core responsible for our magnetic field.
    It also created our moon, whose partnership has slowed our rotation and stabilized our axial precession. This gives us ideal night/day times and predicable, changing seasons that has helped life flourish and spread.
    Mars does not benefit from the same iron/rocky crust ratio, nor does it have the m$#%&!@* to create the dual core we have. It cooled, the entire core solidified and locked in place. It’s the convection currents in the liquid part of our core that creates our life protecting mag field.

    Well many say that Mars once had oceans and an atmosphere. Now this theory may be able to prove why Mars wasn’t able to sustain this atmosphere as long as Earth.

Anyway, I’m sure it just says that the reason we not only the life, but intelligent life is because we were allowed to evolve over a long period of time safely, thanks to our magnetic field provided by the solid nickel core spinning in molten magma… maybe it gave a little credit to the moon, for taking the hit on some pretty big asteroids in the past that would the otherwise resulted in m$#%&!@* extinction…

The sun is round.. the moon is round.. jupiter is round.. mars is round.. venus is round.. a 3 year old can figure it out but yet here you are.. so tell me.. where does the boundaries begin and end. When ships circumnavigate the world.. do they come to the edge and blink to the other side? Also.. there is this thing called the International Space Station (I.S.S.). It is zooming overhead at 17, 500mph. Sometimes you can see it. Now. NASA has set up a 24 hr a day webcam showing the curvature of the earth. How is that flat? I also suppose we never went to the moon according to you right?

    It must be really hard for you for any of this to soak in because it could be a matter of perspective. I take it youve never been on an airplane because if you have even at 40k feet you can see the curvature of the earth
