The Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni is the largest know squid species, and probably the scariest
Well, for all I know the Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni could be a cousin of the mythical Kraken. This colossal squid is the largest known squid species and it can reach a length of 12 to 14 meters. The species was discovered in 1925, when they found two tentacles inside the stomach of a whale.

Mythical squid but shows s picture of an octopus. It’s so odd how these true mythical beasts manage to look so “un mythical beast like” when actually presented to us. Even the largest specimens seems to look like a weird fat sow rolling around in the ocean with short stubby excuses for tentacles,a far cry from the writhing mass of medusa like tentacles and huge cyclopean eyes that clung to the Nautilus. But then again I suppose I wouldn’t look so great either if a giant squid spotted me floating around in the water
