It is absolutely enormous and scientists are scratching their heads. There have been rumors and sightings of strange holes all over the planet. Many are attributing these to fracking or other fossil fuel drilling activities.:
Scientists have launched an investigation into a giant crater that suddenly appeared in Siberia. Internet speculation on the hole’s origins abounds.
Some of the theories are even ranging from ufo activity to a military experiment and even dark matter. It is 260 feet wide and no one knows how deep it actually is.
Russian scientists have been on the scene multiple times to try to gather evidence. Apparently the most popular theory is that it is from a meteor.

Actually, they do know what causes these as this story is old and has been investigated. They’re called pings — mounds with an inner ice core common in Arctic and sub-Arctic regions. Warming over a number of years triggered melting and the resulting empty space inside the ice humps filled with natural gas, mainly methane, eventually triggering eruptions.
