The “Alien Wow Signal” From 1977 May Have Been Solved

Finally…do you think they are right?

On August 15 1977 something strange was detected and it has never been replicated.  Many call it the alien wow signal because like the name, they think it was from extraterrestrials.  No one knows for sure exactly what it is but someone may have came up with a reasonable theory just now.  Here is a brief background on the original story:

Radio astronomers using the Big Ear radio telescope at Ohio State University picked up a powerful signal from space. Some believe it was our first interception of an alien broadcast.

The signal – known as the “Wow! signal” after a note scribbled by astronomer Jerry Ehman, who detected it – came through at 1420 megahertz, corresponding to a wavelength of 21 centimetres. Searchers for extraterrestrial transmissions have long considered it an auspicious place to look, as it is one of the main frequencies at which atoms of hydrogen, the most common element in the universe, absorb and emit energy. What’s more, this frequency easily penetrates the atmosphere.

Let’s find out what they think this was from 40 years later on page 2

I’m thinking a plasma resonance of one form or another, (i.e. shocked into oscillation by a radiation burst). The interesting thing is the source could be outside our solar system, or even extra-galactic.
