how cool is this?
This guy makes a very interesting coil that could be made at home with a few parts. It doesn’t take a scientist or physics student to make one of these its pretty easy. Here is how this home experimenter describes this device:
In this video, I make a pancake coil for inductive heating the surface of parts that wouldn’t make sense to build a regular coil for. It can also be used for cooking. Induction cooktops are more efficient than a gas or electric stove because there is less wasted heat.
NOTE: DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT THE SUPERVISION OF A PROFESSIONAL
It is called a pancake coil for the obvious reason that the shape and color somewhat resemble one 😉
Let’s watch this thing heat up in the video on page 2

Dangerous. Do not try this. If you have the professional qualifications (e.g. licensed electrician) you won’t need to do this, as it’s trivial. If you don’t have the qualifications, you’re likely to blow a fuse at best, put yourself into cardiac arrest at worst.
Perfect! For midget, midget, midgets.
Have one stored in my shed, bought it at the store for a hundred bucks , never use it.
It’s the same exact coild from any standard coffee maker
Or the same design for on demand tankless water heaters?
Wrong. A coffee maker uses a resistive heating element like a water heater or a blow dryer. This coil is using Litz wire which consists of 5 pairs of 52 insulated wires. The Litz wire increases the efficiency of the coil because it reduces the resistance due to the skin effect that occurs at higher frequencies. The heat is being transferred by induction instead of conduction like a coffee maker.
Anthony Garofalo You can only be wrong and disproven as there is no condition state other than I am.
