Astronomers Spotted a Huge “Diamond Planet” Orbiting a…

no way?

This is arguably one of the trippiest finds in the last 10 years for astronomy.  Neutron stars are responsible (or at least a lot of astronomers think so) for FRBs.  Fast radio bursts are not often detected and they come from deep space.  And in this video they found a strange planet orbiting a neutron star.

Using the giant Parkes Radio Telescope in New South Wales, Australia, astrophysicists have found an incredibly dense planet comprised of crystalized carbon — the stuff of diamonds — in orbit about a pulsar.

Although most of us think of The Hubble when it comes to big telescopes, there are actually a lot of superpowerful ones around the world.  There is another in Chile (ESO) and this one in New South Wales made this crazy discovery as noted again.

And did you know in China right now there is a large telescope being built?

Let’s check out what a diamond planet could look like in the video on page 2
