This Invention Uses Sound Waves to Put Out Fires

Another thing that is cool about this invention is that it was devised by two engineering students.  It is always awesome to observe inspired minds come up with better solutions.  Here is a quick description of the device:

It’s not much to listen to, just a low hum, but when pointed at flames, it makes them vanish.

In a way, it’s like blowing the fire out, because sound waves are basically multiple, regular blasts of air.

Think of the environmental benefits as well.  No need to throw out a fire extinguisher once it is out of foam or if it is expired.  Think of all the manufacturing energy and fossil fules that go into transporting just one of those.  With the sound wave technique, if they get far enough along (which they likely will) you won’t need entirely new replacements.  And think of the cost savings, maybe a lot more people would invest in home safety with this invention.  Congratulations!

thank you to Ben Brumfield and CNN for the great write-up
