Programmable Can Change Form Into Anything

have you seen this stuff?

Science fiction is becoming science reality with this new substance.  Mostly we think of matter as solid, liquid, gas or plasma.  And if we manufacture objects, or change the temperature etc. of matter it obviously changes shape.  So what is programmable matter?

What if you could fax someone a real, three-dimensional object? The solution might come in the form of programmable matter – a material that takes on predetermined shapes and can change its configuration on demand. We’re already seeing early prototypes coming from Carnegie Mellon and Intel in the form of “claytronics.” So what’s in store for this technology, and why should we be excited about it?

What types of applications do you think this will be used for?  And the other question is have you seen Terminator Part II?  This is eerily similar to the stuff they made the bad terminator with 😉

Let’s check out this new type of matter in the video on page 2

Yes the potential for this is as beautiful as it is catastrophic. On one hand it could create a world where “reduce reuse recycle” would take on a whole new meaning. Never having to “throw away ” anything almost instantaneous rebuilding remodeling of entire homes cities furniture cars the applications are endless. On the other hand the applications are equally endless to create death on an unprecedented scale. Interesting tech. Very far away perhaps by the time it’s ready we will have evolved morally to the point we can use such technology responsibly. The potential applications are way too powerful.
